The Manchester City fans would certainly not have forgotten those 7 months in 2007 when their team hadn’t managed to find the net even a single time at home.
After beating Everton by a close margin of 2-1 on 1st January, City couldn’t win a home match in the remaining part of that season. It was not a memorable season for the Sky Blues by any means.
City’s squad has almost changed completely since then. But, one guy is still there. It’s Micah Richards who is in his 9th year at Etihad now.
The 25 years old Englishman was in the thick of things when City was suffering that goal drought. That would certainly have been a horrible experience for him, but, what he is experiencing at the club right now is completely different from that. It is much more pleasant. The Sky Blues are smashing goals after goals on their home ground of late. Each and every team that has travelled to Etihad in the ongoing season has conceded a goal and that’s absolutely remarkable.
Richards is very happy with this turnaround. Talking about it in one of his interviews a couple of days back, the Right back said, “It was hilarious at that point of time. We were not finding the net at all. But, a lot has changed in the past few years and the current owners should be given credit for that. They have invested big and the results are in front of you all.”
City hadn’t had a great last season, but, in this season, they have done wonderfully so far thanks to their charismatic strikers. They are in race to win 4 big titles at the moment.
As far as their position in the league table is concerned, the Sky Blues are close to getting to the top.
