Former Aston Villa star Dwight Yorke has revealed that he is interested in becoming the next Villains boss after Steve Bruce was sacked from the position. Bruce had been the subject of criticism from a section of the supporters after helping the club to just one league win from the previous nine Championship matches and this eventually saw him being axed from his position.
Since then, a number of high-profile names including Thierry Henry and David Moyes have been associated with the role but speaking to Sky Sports, Yorke has admitted that he has submitted his resume for the vacancy, he said: “I’ve made the necessary move and I’ve sent in my CV and I’m actually trying to make contact with the chief executive of the football club. I’m doing everything on my side to make sure I’m given that opportunity to speak to them. It’s a job I’m 100% interested in, I’ve made it very clear I’d like to speak to the football club.Whether that happens or not I’m still waiting on a telephone call.”
